Aloo Mutter

I have previously posted Mutter Paneer, this version has potatoes (Aloo) instead of Paneer. It is a lovely dish and can be served with rice or chapatties and tastes fabulous.

Ingredients:-

2 cups frozen peas

1/2 cup fried onions (or 1 large onion chopped)

8 baby potatoes or 2 large potatoes

2 large ripe tomatoes ( chopped)

1 tbsp ginger paste

1 tbsp garlic paste

1 tsp chilly powder

1/2 tsp tumeric powder

1 tbsp cumin-coriander powder

1 tbsp crème fraiche

Pinch of Kasuri Methi (optional)

1 tsp garam masala

Salt and pepper.

Ghee or Oil

Method:

Boil the potatoes with a bit of salt and keep aside. If using baby potatoes cut into two pieces, if using large potatoes cut into 1 inch chunks.

Heat ghee or oil in a pan and add fry the onions, if using fried onions, add a bit of water to the ghee and add the fried onions and let it cook for one minute. We will be cooking on medium heat throughout.

Add the ginger and garlic paste and cook till the raw smell disappears, add water at any point when the mixture looks like it is burning.

Add the turmeric, chilly powder, cumin and coriander powder and fry for a couple of minutes.

Add peas and let it cook, when it is nearly cooked (about 6-7 minutes) add the potatoes, crème fraiche, Kasuri methi and garam masala and mix well.

Serve with rice or chapattis.
