Chicken rolls

These are simple to make and absolutely delicious. I made these with a spicy chicken mince filling, but you can make lamb mince rolls or even a vegetarian potato and peas filling or spinach and cheese, everything works!

Ingredients:

1 all butter puff pastry sheet

Sesame seeds

1 tbsp Milk

  • 1 All butter puff pastry sheet
  • 2 tbsp milk (brushing top of rolls)
  • 200 gms chicken mince
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic-chilly paste
  • 1 tsp cumin and coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp chilly powder
  • 2 large tomatoes (chopped)
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves (chopped)
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tbsp Ghee (optional)
  • 1 tsp Sesame seeds (optional)

Method:

We start with preparing the filling. Heat the oil and fry the chopped onions till translucent.

Add ginger-garlic chilly paste and cook till the raw smell disappears.

Add cumin and coriander powder and chilly powder.

Add tomatoes and cook till mushy.

Add chicken mince and cook till the moisture evaporates.

Add lemon juice and mix well.

Lastly add garam masala and the coriander leaves and mix well and cook for a couple of minutes.

Let the mixture cool completely.

Heat the oven to 200 degrees C (I have a fan oven you may need to heat it to 210 degrees if using a conventional oven).

Cut the pastry sheet vertically to make two equal rectangles pieces.

Take one of the rectangle pieces and place the cooled filling mixture along one side and fold the other side over and press down to ensure the filling is secure.

Brush the top of the roll with milk and sprinkle the sesame seeds.

Cut the roll into 4 pieces and place on an oiled baking tray.

Repeat the same process with the second piece of pastry.

You will have eight rolls in total.

Bake for the first 10 mins at 200 degrees C and then reduce to 180 degrees C.

Total bake time will be about 20 to 25 minutes.

Serve hot with tomato ketchup and enjoy.
