Mango Chanderpuli

This is a traditional recipe handed down in my family for generations and an all time favourite of mine. It is a simple recipe and as it doesn’t involve any cooking and is ready in no time. A great cool alternative to curry to serve on a hot summer day!

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe mangoes
  • 1 cup shredded coconut (fresh or dessicated) I used dessicated as that what I had
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 dry red Kashmir chillies
  • A little turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste

Method:

Cut the mangoes and mash the pulp. We don’t want a smooth paste, a few bits of fruit add texture to the curry. You can also use the skin and seed in the curry if you like or throw them…as you please

Blitz the coconut, chillies, mustard in a mixer with a little water to make a smooth paste.

Mix the mashed mangoes, turmeric, salt and the coconut paste in a bowl.

Serve with rice.
